What Is Free-Air?

A free-air (infinite baffle) subwoofer is designed to play without a traditional sealed or ported box. Instead, it uses the trunk or cargo area of your vehicle as its rear air volume. The result is smooth, natural-sounding bass with less weight, less bulk, and more usable space in your vehicle. If you want serious low end without sacrificing your entire trunk, free-air is the way to go.

Purpose-Tuned for Open-Air Performance

This isn't just a standard Alusonic EX without a box — the suspension and motor parameters have been specifically tuned for free-air use. The higher Qts values mean the driver controls its own cone movement without relying on enclosure air pressure, delivering smooth, controlled bass in infinite baffle and vented setups where a standard sub would sound loose and undefined.
